The Brigalow Catchment Study: VI.

چکیده

Land clearing for cropping and grazing has increased runoff sediment yield in Central Queensland. The Brigalow Catchment Study (BCS), was established to determine the effect of land on water balance, soils, productivity, consisted three catchments: brigalow forest, cropping, grazing. Factors responsible changes models predicting have not been assessed. Objectives this study are identify climatic, hydrological, ground cover factors assess suitable prediction. Runoff data from 1988 2018 were used Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation (RUSLE) Modified USLE (MUSLE) predict catchments. Common events among catchments all catchment pairs approximately 44% higher 4% than that forested catchment. amount (Q) peak rate (Qp) major variables could explain most over time. A comparison each pair showed 801 kg ha−1 or 37% 28 2% Regression analysis different treatments (seven common events) storm (15 forested, 40 20 grazing) Q Qp best correlated with variations cover. high coefficient determination (R2 > 0.60) provided support using MUSLE model, based both Qp, instead RUSLE, important improving predictions BCS

SOIL and SOILNNO at the catchment scale: a case study of an agriculture dominated catchment

A one-dimensional model, SOIL/SOILN_NO is used to simulate the water and N balance at the catchment scale. The catchment is characterized by a large number of farm fields with a high degree of variability, both in crop type, fertilizer application, yield level and soil type. The model was not applied to individual fields but instead a lumped approach was chosen in which the number of crops was ...
